Greetings!
Orion is happily folded into Cancer Lifeline, and we are thriving. We haven't really tapped the full potential of this partnership, but I am very excited. The Orion providers are busy making a difference in the lives of cancer survivors every day in our home on the 2nd floor of Cancer Lifeline's Dorothy Obrien Center. With the amazing support of Cancer Lifeline's program administration, we are running our scientifically proven Living SMART and Living WELL groups regularly. As far as I know, we are the first non-profit to disseminate a scientifically proven program directly into the community! I hope we become a model for non-profits everywhere!
In addition, I am now freed up to be the new Research and Clinical Director at Cancer Lifeline. I supervise the amazing Counseling Program which provides 12 FREE counseling sessions for cancer survivors and their families. We have an excellent team of counselors who have years of experience working with those touched by cancer. I love meeting with them every month and hearing the difference the counselors are making in the lives of the clients they serve.
As Research and Clinical Director I have started assessing the impact of the programs. This will demonstrate to the world that our programs are as successful as the participants report to us every day. We are sending surveys to the Living SMART participants, the 3-day retreat participants, and the counseling program participants.
I can't say enough about Cancer Lifeline and what an honor it is to be part of this amazing organization. I haven't written to you for a while to ask for support, but I am writing now. Will you support Cancer Lifeline and all the programs (including Orion's) they now provide?
For 53 years, Cancer Lifeline has been a steady place to land in the midst of cancer’s uncertainty. They provide licensed counselors who listen without judgment. They offer support groups filled with people who truly understand. They create opportunities for art, movement, and educational classes that offer both practical tools and creative release. They host retreats where connection deepens and healing begins in community.
Every program is offered free of charge so that cost is never a barrier to support. This level of care is only possible because of community members who choose to give.
I’m fundraising to help ensure that this support remains accessible to everyone who needs it.
Because of your generosity, someone can sit across from a counselor and exhale for the first time since diagnosis.
Because of you, a support group becomes a circle of understanding faces.
Because of you, creativity opens a door to expression when words feel too hard.
